  • "Tamale Spaceship"<br /> <br /> Daily Photos - December 8, 2011<br /> <br /> What better to accompany my recent street photography postings than a shot of some “Street Food!” The proprietors of this local Chicago food truck called the Tamale Spaceship wear these awesome Mexican wrestling masks while dishing up some seriously tasty tamales. Can it get any better that this?
  • “Unf*ck the Future”<br /> <br /> Daily Photos - December 5, 2011<br /> <br /> I’ve taken on a new adventure to explore street photography here in Chicago and this is the second posting from that series / genre. The purpose of this new adventure is to get out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself to capture various street scenes. This unposed and very fluid style of photography is a major departure from my “standard” flower and landscape shots. I really like how the the first image in the series, Bell Ringer, captures the rawness of the street, but this second posting is so edgy that I was a little hesitant about sharing it... <br /> <br /> This posting is of a young man who is part of the larger group of Occupy Chicago protesters who have taken up a permanent post a few blocks from my office. He holds a ‘colorful’ sign in support of the movement and his fellow protesters. He might need to do a little more than just hold that sign if he want to accomplish his goal though...
  • "Bell Ringer"<br /> <br /> Daily Photos - December 2, 2011<br /> <br /> Well, this is a MAJOR departure from my typical (and safe) flower and landscape shots! "Bell Ringer" is my first posting in a new style / genre of photography (street scenes / street photography) that I've been interested in trying my hand at for quite some time. I've flirted with it a few times before, getting some broader city shots that were more architectural in nature, but to be honest, I just haven't had guts to get out there and get close to people. <br /> There is definitely something very exciting about the edginess and grit of the street! <br /> <br /> I have been studying some work by a photographer I learned of just recently. His name is Thomas Leuthard and his website is 85mm Street Photography. Anyone interested in street photography should definitely check him out! I didn't realize how true the below quote was until I got out there and tried it! Holy smokes!!!<br /> <br /> "The shorter your focal length is, the bigger your balls have to be..." - 85mm.ch
