"Bell Ringer" is my first posting in a new style / genre of photography (street scenes / street photography) that I've been interested in trying my hand at for quite some time. I've flirted with it a few times before, getting some broader city shots that were more architectural in nature, but to be honest, I just haven't had guts to get out there and get close to people. <br /> There is definitely something very exciting about the edginess and grit of the street! <br /> <br /> I have been studying some work by a photographer I learned of just recently. His name is Thomas Leuthard and his website is 85mm Street Photography. Anyone interested in street photography should definitely check him out!   • “Unf*ck the Future”<br /> <br /> Daily Photos - December 5, 2011<br /> <br /> I’ve taken on a new adventure to explore street photography here in Chicago and this is the second posting from that series / genre. The purpose of this new adventure is to get out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself to capture various street scenes. This unposed and very fluid style of photography is a major departure from my “standard” flower and landscape shots. I really like how the the first image in the series, Bell Ringer, captures the rawness of the street, but this second posting is so edgy that I was a little hesitant about sharing it... <br /> <br /> This posting is of a young man who is part of the larger group of Occupy Chicago protesters who have taken up a permanent post a few blocks from my office. He holds a ‘colorful’ sign in support of the movement and his fellow protesters. He might need to do a little more than just hold that sign if he want to accomplish his goal though...

Daily Photos - November 29, 2011 *Warning* This breaking news story may be disturbing to children under the age of 10 and anyone sensitive to matters relating to Santa Claus. Reader discretion is advised... Wonderland - 11/29/2011 With shock waves being felt around the world, the widely accepted notion that Santa lives in an overly whimsical house a the North Pole has now been found to be untrue! A rare elf sighting at the Wonderland Express now confirms that Santa and his entourage in fact live 20 minutes outside of Chicago in a model Frank Lloyd Wright house. Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a representative from Santa's Office of Gift Requests from Ill-disciplined children & iNcident Control Hub (O-GRINCH) confirmed that an elf knowingly violated Santa's strict policy regarding non-access to the toy factory's upper-level balcony during the holiday season. The source stated that, "peoples interest in trying to track down Santa during the holiday season increases exponentially, which is why access to the toy factory's highly-visible upper level balcony is only allowed during the slower off-season." The source continued by saying, "we've had a couple of other close calls throughout the years, but nothing like this before. I'm not sure what Santa is going to do, but he's not happy!"     Excellent job on capturing this! We have a Wonderland Express at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. My shots did not turn out this good!
